There is only one possible reason this could happen.
Old people don't read anymore. The Harry Potter series to me ... is the best heroes journey created in my lifetime. With that being said ... despite all the assertions that this series got kids to read. I'm not so sure about what age a kid "should be allowed to read" these.
There were parts that I was terrified about.
